Rechargeable UV lamp or belt lamp: which one do you need?

If you move around to check goods, a rechargeable hand lamp is the right choice; if the product flows on a belt, a belt lamp is. Most businesses use both: the rechargeable lamp at goods intake and the belt lamp on the production line.

Rechargeable hand lamp (AFLALED 35 cm)

Cordless and hand-held. It gives a straight 35 cm light bar and scans a full strip of a crate in one pass. It runs about 3 hours when left on continuously and about 6 hours with on-off use. IP65 rated.

Best for:

  • Checking lots at goods intake and at the warehouse entrance
  • Checks in the truck, on the drying yard or in the orchard
  • Sample checks before buying from a supplier
  • Regular checks of lots in storage

If you work at a fixed table near a socket, the same size is also available as a corded model, with no charging needed.

Belt lamp (AFLALED belt, 100 cm)

Fixed above the sorting belt and running continuously on 220 V. Each lamp is 100 cm (1 metre) long and lamps are added end to end to match the belt length. Available with a wide (120°) or narrow (60°) beam.

Best for:

  • Dried fig sorting and grading lines
  • Final sorting before packing
  • Daily sorting that runs for hours

Both models use the same wavelength: 365 nm. With both, a glowing piece is suspect fruit that may contain aflatoxin. UV sorting is a pre-sorting step; the final result comes from the laboratory.

Still unsure? Ask yourself: does the product come to you, or do you go to the product? If it comes to you on a belt, choose the belt lamp; if you go to the lot, choose the rechargeable lamp.
